most of my grunge aesthetic worthy photos are those of buildings or cities as they are easier to edit than people I believe. the first couple of some of my favorites. this one specifically, with the sun and main focus on the bottom of the photo and the empty space. the lampost here, adds a very grungy effect. personally, I could see a rebellious or emotional teen skating/running through in a coming of age movie.
many of my photos are taken in the span of a couple of seconds. I'll often be walking to somewhere, with a destination in mind, but I see a sight that I think would be perfect for one of my grunge photos and have to stop and take it. this one was taken while I was walking to dominos to pick up an order :D the purple window is what I love.
this is one of my favorites, if not my most favorite. the bluriness, the color of the building spilling onto the sky, the accent colors from them, the one singular lampost. it seems so empty, yet comforting. it was a rainy night hence the low clouds. the twin cities is super pretty sometimes.
I believe here is where I started to get into capturing grunge images of buildings. it really is fun. typically, signs are a big thing that can be turned grunge and are considered aesthetic.
even something as simple as a word written on a piece of paper can be considered aesthetic. desaturate it a bit, add some grain, and it's grunge! I genuinely don't rememeber to this day if it's something I wrote just for the picture or if it really was part of something.
another one of my favorites because it contains a special memory. even moments that you are living in the present can be considered grunge. I truly did feel like a teen in a coming of age movie. my friends and I rode scooters in the rain. they raced and I captured it on camera :) this is actually a still from a video!
at one point, I was super into grunge photos of parking ramps and the stairs inside of them. it gave me a very specific feeling/vibe that I just can't explain. the same way sitting on top of a tall building at night in the city does. the same way mirror's edge does. the sign in this one is what really gives it that grunge vibe.
my friends and I :) we took this in a muesum actually which is kind of a whole separate aesthetic. I think the fact that we sat on the stairs just staring at the camera and in different positions like we're in a band, (we actually considered ourselves one even though we never played anything!).
ah yes, one of my very first grunge photos ever. I was a freshman in high school. I actually didn't take this photo, but when my friend showed me, I just knew that it gave me a feeling I really liked. My hair, the way the sweater falls, how I'm looking away from the camera, how my hair and clothes are black against the light background. it just gave me super grunge vibe without really knowing what it was at the time. I didn't end up adding grungey filters to it until a few years later.
again, also didn't take this one. my cousin did. I think that grunge can also be a feeling, a moment encapsulated in time forever. this is what this photo is to me. the day I graduated was a bittersweet one for me. high school was full of moments that made me feel like, I know I keep saying it, a teen in a coming of age movie.
